Join Amelia Brown, Curatorial Assistant, International Art, for a talk in the exhibition Know My Name: Global on the work of acclaimed American artists Yoko Ono, Jenny Holzer and Judy Chicago.

In this talk, Amelia will focus on the recently acquired Rainbow Pickett 1965/2021 by prominent feminist artist Judy Chicago, the politically provocative text-based installation Inflammatory essays 1978-83 by Jenny Holzer and Yoko Ono’s conceptual sculpture A box of smile 1971/1984.

Know My Name: Global presents works of art by living women artists who have pushed the limits of artistic practice through experimentation with form, colour and spatial innovation from the 1960s to the present day.

The exhibition is a Know My Name project, the National Gallery initiative celebrating the work of all women artists to enhance understanding of their contribution to Australia’s cultural life.

Curators: Deirdre Cannon, Assistant Curator, Australian Art; Amelia Brown, Curatorial Assistant, International Art; and Vy Tsan, former Curatorial Assistant, International Art.
